Pandemic Wars Prototype

Below a first prototype for Pandemic Wars. The goal is to spread a disease by changing the disease parameters including infectivity, mortality, restistance, transmission modi etc. Or optionally, the goal could be to stop the spread of a disease. It will be possible to have more than one disease at the same time battling for ultimate annihilation.

  1. this looks great. I have no idea what is being said in the video, so feedback is difficult, but I like it.

    No interest in stopping disease, definitely more fun to spread it. The multiplayer element makes it playable (for me) in a long-term way. I picture a tabletop version of spore in a way. Configuring my disease to do the most harm. Couple of questions come to mind:

    1.) If disease 1 kills all the people on 1 side of the map, and disease 2 kills all the people on the other, does it just come down to who killed the most people?

    2.) Is the priority to kill people, or keep them alive for maximum incubation? A world without people could be seen as a world without disease, no? The ultimate goal of most people infected wins (more infections = more disease) should provide for a good variation of strategy.

    3.) Is the idea to allow both diseases and their resistance to be human playable at the same time? That would be kind of cool. 2 or 3 guys playing various diseases, all competing against each other and an additional layer of resistance (the human element, fighting back, I assume) fighting all the various diseases would be incredible. Power would have to be balanced correctly (based on who’s playing?) to limit a predictable winner though. This item feels overly complicated.

    4.) Is this in active production, or just a concept for now?

  2. Let me try to answer your questions:

    1) Probably “last disease standing”. The goal is to kill everyone.

    2) That’s one possible direction. Kill everyone -or- infect everyone. It’s still a work in progress, so definitely both options are feasible.

    3) It will be single player for this first initial release. The AI will take over and manage the other disease competing against the player managing his disease.

    4) Still a concept.
