Atari Coldfire Project

In case you are curious on what my dad is up to. No, he is not a game developer. He is creating computer hardware. He is currently working on a next generation Atari computer. As Atari the company is pretty much “dead”, Medusa Computer System is the one company left still producing Atari hardware.

The project is called the Atari Coldfire Project (ACP). Atari experts from hardware and software are putting together the next Atari computer called FireBee running on the ColdFire processor. The hardware is finished. The operating system and software is currently still being worked on. Visit the links below for imagery & video:

  3. Yes, good times! There are a bunch of Atari games I played which would be fun to bring back to the current desktop & mobile market. You guys ever played Tauris on the Atari?

  4. Wow you have a cool dad! What is the target market for this clone? Will any new games be written for it since its hardware is no slouch and sports an ATI chip and fast CPU? Please keep us up to date through your dad on its development

  5. There are a bunch of people writing software/drivers for the Atari Coldfire Project. Also, apparently Linux is ported to it so it will run on the computer.

Don’t know anything about games being written for it?

  6. This is simply amazing. I only wish it also supported an expandable and updateable 8-bit Atari computer format as well, so it could be the end-all-be-all computer for Atari!
